Daniel “Dan” E. Shake, age 87, of Washington, passed away December 21, 2017 at 11:39 pm at Daviess Community Hospital.
He was born on December 7, 1930 in Washington to Harry and Dorothy (Ware) Shake. He was a 1948 graduate of Montgomery High School, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He had retired from Hoover Sepierer Steel Ball where he had worked for several years. He was a member of the Washington VFW, Washington American Legion and Glendale Masonic Lodge. Daniel loved gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Brian) Christie; five grandchildren, Jennifer Christie, Daniel (Ashley) Christie, Melissa Thomas, Jordan (Heather) Christie and Shannon Christie; nine great grandchildren and his loving companion of 39 years, Margaret Bowman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Shake and Harold Shake.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a Masonic Service being held by the Glendale Masonic Lodge at 7:00 PM.
