Wiscaver Sentenced in Vehicle VS Pedestrian Death

A Loogootee man has received his sentenced in connection with a car/pedestrian fatal accident that happened September 10th.  78-year-old Joseph Yerkes was killed in the incident.

        Senior Judge Jim Osborn of Knox County presided over the sentencing Monday in Daviess Superior Court. 29-year-old Ryan Wiscaver entered a guilty plea.  As part of the agreement, two charges against Wiscaver were dropped including Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death.

        Wiscaver was sentenced to six years in prison for Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Fatal Accident.  The Washington Times Herald reports he was given credit for 93 days already served, and 31 days for good time served.  360 days were suspended to probation.  Wiscaver was also ordered to enter a drug treatment program during his time at a state prison. After that is completed, the there could be a possibility of a sentence modification.
