Erma J. Padgett, age 92, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at The Villages of Oak Ridge.

She was born on December 9, 1924 in Daviess County, to Fred L. and Mae (Bradfield) Barber. She graduated from Washington High School in 1943 and had worked at Reliance during WWII inspecting parachutes. She was a member of our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne (William) Batchelor of Washington; a son,   William “Bill” (Marie) Padgett of Washington; one sister, Norma Waggoner of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Mary Padgett;  seven grandchildren, Chris (Kim) Brothers of Washington, Nathan (Rachel) Mayhorn of Brownsburg, Shannon K. Padgett and Jeremy (Alicia) Padgett of Washington, Craig Padgett and David Padgett both of Sellersburg, Katie (Roee) Shahar of Fishers and tweleve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Padgett, on October 13, 2005, whom she married February 17, 1947; one son Daniel J. Padgett DDS; one sister, Mary Himsel on November 23, 2017; three brothers, Maurice Barber, John Barber and Bernard Barber.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am on Saturday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
