Nancy Ruth Hughey Taylor Strockbine, 86, of Washington, met her heavenly father on November 25, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Nancy was born on November 5, 1931 to Luther and Famie (Dorsett) Hughey. She married Floyd Ray Taylor (the father of her four daughters) on October 19, 1948. In 2006, Nancy married William Strockbine. Nancy graduated from Washington High School, received her Bachelors degree from Oakland City College and her Masters Degree from Indiana State University. She was an elementary school teacher, employed by Washington Community Schools, teaching at Jefferson School and Lena Dunn Elementary. Nancy was a member of Mt. Gilead Church.
Surviving Nancy are daughters: Rae Ann (Jim) Brown, Sandy (Randy) Burris, Nancy (Rob) Case, and son-in-law Gene Bresh; grandchildren Marinda (Mark) Howard, Tim (Jennifer) Burris, Tammy Calderon, Brian Burris, Brett (Nikki) Bresh, Amy Bresh, Michael (Leslie) Russell, Jonathan (Angie) Russell, Summer Russell (Kevin Harpe); step grand daughter Julie (Mike) Johnson; thirteen great grandchildren, including her namesake Taylor Russell; six step grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister Carolyn Lou (Delbert) Cox and brothers Bruce (Maria) Hughey and Bill (Patricia) Hughey; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Nancy in death are her husbands Floyd Taylor and Bill Strockbine; her parents Luther and Famie Hughey; daughter Linda “Susie” Bresh; sisters Laverne McDonald, Imogene Miller, Barb Wright, Betty Mason; and brothers Richard Hughey and Jim Hughey.
The funeral service for Nancy will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 1pm at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11-1pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at New Veale Creek Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.gillsince1872.com.
