Residents of an apartment complex in Washington which was damaged by fire last week are still not back at home.

Washington Fire Chief Dave Rhoads initially said occupants could go home within a few days of the October 17th fire that destroyed 2 of the apartments at 507 East South Street and damaged the rest of the building.  However, Monday, Chief Rhoads issued a statement saying it’s his understanding that the residents have had to find assistance and lodgings until further notice due to the extent of fire and water damage.   Meanwhile, insurance is pending and quotes are being obtained to repair the damage to the structure.
