City approves 2018 Budget

The Washington City Council approved a budget for 2018 in the amount of over $10.8 million.  The tax rate will be advertised high at a little over $2.14 per $100 assessed valuation.  More money was added to the city’s street funds.  There’s $1.68 million in that fund. The increase is attributed to the state gas tax hike.

In the absence of Mayor Wellman and Council President Alan Brown, City Clerk Treasurer Beth McGookey called the meeting to order and Councilman Jerry Sidebottom presided.  The budget was the only item on the agenda and was approved unanimously.
