The Street Department is officially under new management

          In a news release issued Monday by the city, it was reiterated that Mayor Joe Wellman recently appointed Bryan Sergesketter Street Commissioners and Aaron Mullen Assistant Street Commissioner.  The appointments follow the recent retirement of Ernie Evans.

          Sergesketter has been with the cit since 2013 when he was hired as Building Commissioner.  He also served as the City’s Code Enforcement Officer and a County Zoning Administrator through an Interlocal Agreement with Daviess County.  Sergkeketter will remain as Building Commissioner until a new appointment is made.

          Mullen has been employed by the city for 15 years starting out as an assistant mechanic in the Street Department.

          Mayor Joe Wellman says he looks forward to working with both men and says the city wants to continue the services they’ve always offered and make improvements to make the city better.

          The Washington Street Department provides trash and yard waste pick-up, street maintenance, snow and ice removal, mosquito spraying and recycling services. In addition the department operates the city’s bus service and provides vehicle mechanic work for a few other departments in the city.
