budget-4

The Daviess County Council has approved a budget of over $27.6 million.  The Washington Time Herald says that’s over $360,000 less than last year’s spending plan.

The budget includes a 3.5% pay raise for county employees.  The county council members gave credit to the county department heads and elected officials for working together to keep spending down in their individual budgets.

The Times Herald reports that the council gave the county commissioners an extra $10,000 to pay the debt on the elevator at the Daviess County Museum which should be paid within three years. The council also gave Senior and Family Services an extra $2000 for their continued work in the community.

The new budget will hopefully means a lowered property tax rate.  The budget is now being sent to the state for their approval.
