Thanks to Hurricane Harvey, gas prices are up about a dime

Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for  gassbuddy.com , said the average Tuesday morning in Indiana was $2.50 a gallon, while the national average was $2.64.  DeHaan says the national average gasoline price saw its largest weekly jump since Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005 when the national average jumped 49 cents in a week. Every state has seen average gas prices rise he said, Texas saw shortages at hundreds of stations.

DeHaan when on to say that while it may be weeks or longer before all refineries are back online, attention is turning now to Hurricane Irma. With the Colonial Pipeline having shut down last week due to a lack of products, he said Florida and the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic may be a touch and go area for gasoline. Products are flowing to that region, but he says  we’ll have to keep an eye on the storm, as Irma’s path continues to be updated.

The average gas price in Washington is 2.48, in Petersburg the average is 2.55, in Vincennes gas is 2.55, Jasper 2.56, Loogootee 2.59 in Linton is 2.37.
