The brand new Petersburg Fire Station was dedicated Sunday in ceremonies attended by city and county officials, along with fire department members from several area counties and townships.

Petersburg has a strong and dedicated volunteer department which is now housed in a brand new building on Illinois Street.  The new facility has office and living space for the volunteers to be able to man the station at all times.   Petersburg Mayor R.C. Klipsch…

Klipsch added that the new location and building allows the department to carry out new and changing duties…

The new building came about with an agreement with a developer GM Developer which arranged the financing and built the building.  The cost came in under budget.  The Mayor says the city will buy the building from the developer over a period of time.  No taxes were raised for the construction of the needed facility.
