The new Kimmell Park in Vincennes was officially opened yesterday in Vincennes.

In December of 2015, the park was transferred from the City of Vincennes to Vincennes University with the covenant that it would remain a public park.

The park has been completely refurbished in a 2.5 million dollar dollar project which included the removal of the old Vincennes Boat Club building, and several long standing trees.  200 new trees were planted and new restrooms and lighting has been installed.  There is now a panoramic view of the Wabash River in the park which you can see even as you approach the park from Red Skelton Boulevard.

The VU Community held a ribbon cutting ceremony at mid day yesterday dedicating the 8.5 acre facility which includes some nearby woods.
