James E. “Butch” Padgett Jr., age 70, of Washington, passed away August 8, 2017 at 3:40 pm at St. Vincent Medical Center in Evansville.
He was born on October 16, 1946 in Washington to James Edward and Fern Wilma (Summers) Padgett. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington Catholic High School. He was a member of the VFW men’s auxiliary. He had retried from Jones Body Shop where he had worked for several years. He loved fishing, gardening, visiting Colorado and he was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his son, Eddy (Jenny) Padgett of Virginia; three daughters, Vanessa (Gregg) Fineis of Michigan, Sharon (JJ) Outen of South Carolina and Christina (Robert) Jones of South Carolina; sisters, Carol L. (Richard) Suhre of Washington and Jo Ann Sanders of Colorado; seven grandchildren, Trevor Hunt, Brittany and Ryan Outen, Eddy Padgett, Austin, Jordan and Bailey Jones; one great-grandaughter, Kaylie Smalls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances Jo (Kosier) Padgett; sister, Sharon Sturgeon; brother, Steven Padgett and special friend of many years, Vivian Brewer.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
