Robert “Bob” Clarence Hyatt

Robert “Bob” Clarence Hyatt, 83, of Vincennes, Indiana, gained his wings early Friday morning, July 28, 2017 at North River Health Campus in Evansville, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Virginia “Jinny” Ann (McGrath) Hyatt, one daughter, Ann, who died in infancy, and his parents Elisha and Helen (Brewer) Hyatt, a brother Phil Hyatt and a sister Ruth Hyatt.

Bob is survived by four children and ten grandchildren: Robert C Hyatt, Jr. and wife Becca Hyatt, children Ian and Carson; Scott A Hyatt and wife Susan, children Ryan and Emily; Amy Hyatt Murillo and children Alex, Sam and Kristin; Beth Hyatt Flannigan and children Connor, Benjamin and Maddie.

Bob grew up in Washington, Indiana, and attended Washington Catholic High School. During his early years he was a dedicated Boy Scout and became an Eagle Scout. Always a lifelong learner, Bob began his career at Vincennes University with an Associates Degree he then graduated from Indiana University earning a Bachelor’s Degree  from Kelley School of Business, and later a Masters Degree  from The University of Evansville.

He began his career at Ernst and Young as an Accountant and traveled throughout the United States. Continuing as an Accountant at Magnavox in Greenville, Tennessee and finally settling down close to family as Controller and Head of Financial Services at Vincennes University. He finished his career as a Professor of Accounting at VU. He was awarded the “Gold Cord” award by his peers at Vincennes University for his dedication to education and the students he taught.

Bob loved IU basketball and football, discussing politics, playing the stock market, and keeping his kids and grandkids “between the ditches.” An avid woodworker, he made numerous items for his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated member and volunteer at Sacred Heart Church serving on numerous committees and boards.

Visitation and celebration of his life for family and friends is Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5-8 pm EST at Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10am EST at Sacred Heart Church in Vincennes, Indiana with Rev. Dave Fleck.

Bob will be laid to rest at St John’s Cemetery in Washington, Indiana immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Relay for Life. Online condolences may be made at www.goodwinfamilyfh.com
