Wildfire Grants Awarded to Area Fire Departments

The department of natural resources has announced grant awards to some area fire departments.

A story in today’s Washington Times herald says the grants are administered by the DNR division of forestry and made available through the U.S. Department of agriculture Forest Service.   Dubois County received four grants totaling around $12,000.  Pike County received two grants totaling around $10,000.  Lost River Township in Martin County received $4,700 and Vincennes Township received $3,950.00.  In all, 53 departments around the state received a grant.
