In the absence of Daviess County Commissioner President Nathan Gabhart, Vice-President Tom McCracken presided at Tuesday’s meeting.

McCracken, along with Commissioner Michael Taylor, approved County Assessor Denny Eaton’s request to renew a six-year contract with Pictrometry to do aerial photography for the Assessor’s office.  The contract is for $132,000.
The Commissioners also approved budget requests from Southern Indiana Development Corporation.  $8,100 of the request is a population based, and an additional $2,500 is to pay match money to INDOT for road counts.  Commissioner Taylor noted that this year alone SIDC had returned over $500,000 to Daviess County.
The Commissioners also accepted County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius’s recommendation to accept Cumberland Drive into the county road system.   Cornelius also reported on the Odon-Cannelburg Road project and said to expect a 30 day closure of the Shiloh crossroad beginning August 7.    And after many years of planning and work, the Old Vincennes Road Bridge over the West Fork is repaired and re-opened to traffic.
In other business, the Commissioners granted permission for Buffalo Trace Jeepers to use the Courthouse grounds on Sunday, September 17, to honor area EMT, Police, Firemen, State Troopers, and Dispatcers.
The public is reminded that the Commissioners meeting on August 8, will be held at the produce building on the Odon-Cannelburg Road.  The meeting will start at 6:00 pm.
