(DLC Media)–There are more Lyme disease cases showing up in Indiana.

There were 33 cases in 2005 and 102 in 2015 according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Mallory Swartzentruber is the Daviess County Health Department’s public health educator; she told the Washington Times Herald that there are a couple of cases every year locally.  She said the biggest factor is to be aware that anytime you are in an area where you can pick up ticks… check yourself immediately afterwards.

Early symptoms of Lyme disease area fatigue, aches, swollen lymph nodes, fever, chills and headache.  Also a “bullseye” rash may develop in an affected area.  Swartzentruber says If treated early, Lyme disease does not pose much of a problem.. Antibiotics are used to help with quick recovery.
