Prentis Foster, 89, of Elnora, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. He was born in Pike County, Indiana on October 26, 1927 to Basil Neal and AnnaLee (Russell) Foster. He was married to Donnabell Faye (Lashbrook) Foster, until her passing on February 28, 2015.

Prentis served in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Elnora American Legion and a life member of the Odon VFW. Prentis retired in 1983 with 30 years of service at Crane NWSC. After retiring, he enjoyed shooting the breeze with his friends at the local diners and playing jokes on people. He was always so proud to share the bounty from his well-prepared garden and then canning to enjoy it even more. Prentis loved spending his days outdoors with family while hunting, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting and following all forms of car racing and listening to the Grand Ole Opry radio. He was always quick to help a friend or stranger in a time of need. Taking care of his family was most important to Prentis, even though they endured times of struggle. He felt truly blessed that he had close family over many generations.

Survivors include: three daughters, Connie (Steve) Hammer of Elnora, Debbie Lockridge of Bloomington and Vickie (Gary) Roberts of Linton; four grandsons, Kelly Foster, Todd Hammer, Troy Roberts and Travis Roberts; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, David Wayne Foster of Vicksburg, IN and one sister, Lucille Ronk of Odon.
