A fire Saturday night destroyed a home in Monroe City. Reports are the fire started in a garage on Breckenridge Street just after 5:30-pm. A cause is still being determined. There were no injuries as everyone in the home got out. It took about three hours to fight the fire with five departments responding including Harrison, Vincennes, Steen and Palmyra Townships in Knox County along with assistance from the Petersburg department.
