Yesterday marked the beginning of the Long 4th of July holiday travel period. The Indiana State Police reminds travelers to leave early enough to allow for slowdowns on the roadways, construction zones and vehicle breakdowns. Get plenty of rest before traveling long distances and have snacks and a charged cell phone available if needed. If you have too much to drink, stay where you are at or have someone else drive you home. State Police will be working Project CARE. Drivers can expect to see increased patrols, roving patrols and saturation patrols. These enforcement efforts are vital to public safety, and save lives.
