Bruce Poindexter, 90, of Shoals, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Millers Merry Manor in Wabash, Indiana.
He was born July 29, 1926 in Dover Hill, Indiana to the late Samuel Wiley and Vivian (McPherson) Poindexter.
Bruce was a member of the White River Masonic Lodge No. 332 and the Loogootee Christian Church.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served his country in the South Pacific.
Bruce loved gardening and enjoyed his life long career at Winkle’s Chevyland.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lillian Poindexter; parents, Samuel Wiley and Vivian (McPherson) Poindexter; grandson, Dylan Denny.
Bruce is survived by his children, Carol (Pat) Shoemaker of Wabash, Indiana, Jane Denny of Loogootee and Mike Poindexter and friend, Dooley Duvnjak of Maineville Ohio; grandchildren, Kristina Michelle Bruner (Pat), Patrick Ryan Denny, Courtney Poindexter, Kristin Poindexter, Alicia Shoemaker and Josh Shoemaker; great- grandchildren, Shalyn Bruner, Kaitlyn Bruner, Jocelyn Bruner, Caleb Denny, Evan Denny, Jonathan Denny, Lilly Denny, and Gabriel Heyne; sister- in- law Barb Goings, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 3rd, 2017 at Blake Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Loogootee Christian Church or American Diabetes Association.
