A  Solsberry man is facing a preliminary charge of attempted murder after allegedly running his father-in-law over with a car last weekend, according to a press release issued by the Bloomfield Police Department and reported in the Greene county World.

Ryan Christopher Vandeventer, 21, is facing preliminary charges of Level 1 felony attempted murder, Level 3 felony aggravated battery and Class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy.

Police have determined that Glen Pursell of Bloomfield, age 45, was struck by a vehicle operated by Vandeventer while  Pursell was standing in his yard,” the release states.

Vandeventer allegedly drove onto grass of the property, struck Pursell with his truck, knocking him to the ground and then dragging him some distance under the truck causing serious injuries to Purcell’s legs.

A family member reported that Pursell’s right leg was repaired in surgery but at this point they are still unsure about his left leg.  If the shattered knee cap cannot be repaired, the family member allegedly stated, the leg would have to be amputated from the knee down.

Vandeventer was being held on no bond, pending an appearance in Greene Superior Court.
