Friday shooting death investigation is ongoing

          The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department issued a news release over the weekend with a few more details regarding Friday afternoon’s shooting death south of GPC.

          The release says they were called at just before 2-pm by 54-year-old Mark Jonathan Jones says a subject at his residence had been shot.  Chief Deputy Gary Allison said that 67-year-old David Duncan had gone there to retrieve some property after filing for divorce from his wife who was living with Jones. An argument ensued between the two men, shots were fired and Duncan was hit in the chest and stomach and was later pronounced dead at the scene when authorities arrived.

          After search warrants were issued and served from the prosecutor’s office, Jones was charged with murder and voluntary manslaughter and taken to the security center.

          An autopsy was to be performed Sunday on the victim, those results are pending and the investigation continues.
