Paul Goss served  the county for about 30 years

Paul Goss, Daviess County’s highly regarded Emergency Management Director, has submitted his resignation to the County Commissioners.   In a letter read to the Commissioners by area EMA Director Kellie Streeter, Goss said that his health and family obligation would not allow him to put in the needed time on the job.   In his letter, Goss recommended that his long-time assistant, Scott Myers, be named as his replacement.  Goss agreed to take the assistant director’s position to help in the transition.

Daviess County Chief Deputy Sheriff Gary Allison praised Goss’s service.

During his time as Emergency Management Director, Goss over saw the county response to tornadoes, floods, and fires in the county.  He also helped organize assistance when the Evansville area was hit by a tornado a few years ago.   During Goss’s tenure, Daviess County EMA received State and national recognition.

Commissioner Michael Taylor said Goss had taken on a hard job and served Daviess County well…

Commissioner Tom McCraken said he hated to see Goss go and that leaves big shoes to fill.

Newly appointed director, Scott Myers will officially begin his duties in two weeks.
