Nina Rose (Barnes) Emmons age 76, of Shoals, passed away at 1:10pm Monday May 1, 2017 at the Loogootee Nursing Center.

 
She was born on July 20, 1940 in Marion County to James A. and Roxie (Hatten) Barnes. She married Richard H. Emmons on November 26, 1955 in Shoals. She attended school in Martin County and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, three children; Araminta (Ernie) Bauernfiend of Shoals, Chuck (Shelly) Emmons of Shoals, Carla (Bill) Kerns of Dubois, and one brother Carl (Patty) Barnes of Indianapolis, grandchildren; Tracy and Rick Spurgeon, Jerad and Toni Emmons, Tiffany and Adam Wittmer, Justin and Rachel Emmons, Erica and Clint Carrie, Andrew Kern, Lindsey and Ian McKeag, Luke Kern, Scott and Tori Kern, and great-grandchildren; Ryan, Nicklos and Hunter Spurgeon, Akela Neal and Eli Wittmer, Kaylei Carrie, Adrian and Haven Emmons, Tye Collins and Wesley Kern.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Leroy Barnes and Harley Barnes and five sisters; Doine Newman, Mary Mitchner, Anna VanHatala, Olive Bullock and Lela Leming.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday at the Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Shoals with Matt Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday and until time of service on Saturday at the Queen-Lee Chapel.
