Authorities in several areas are investigating separate murders and deaths which have occurred in the past several days.
In Bedford, 25 year old Justin Lampkins of Bloomington died after being shot at a McDonald’s early Sunday morning. 22-year-old Evan Schaffer of Orleans has been charged with murder in that case.
In Mount Vernon, 20-year-old Kunta Steward is charged with involuntary manslaughter and other charges. That’s in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Luke Darr of Mount Vernon. He was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head after police were called to a report of shots fired Saturday night. Steward pleaded not guilty yesterday.
A suspicious death is being investigated in Warrick County. The body found Monday morning at the Alcoa Soccer Complex has been identified as a Halee Rathgeber of Evansville. She was 20 years old. There’s been no cause of death released and an autopsy was slated to take place last night.
And in Rockville…. our sister station WAXI reports that the man accused of murdering his wife was in court in Parke County yesterday. John Hartman was arrested after his wife, Rebecca Hartman was found dead in their Rockville home Saturday morning. Police say Rebecca J. Hartman apparently died of massive trauma. Even though in a Police statement Hartman admitting to beating her with his fists a not guilty plea was entered for Hartman
