Julia M. Elliott, 82, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Good Samaritan Northwood nursing home in Jasper, Indiana, surrounded by her family.

 

 

 

 

Born September 20, 1934, in Elwood, Indiana, she was the youngest of 11 children born to the late Marion L. and Mary Alice (McDannel) Bucci.

Julia attended school in Elwood and later married Robert (Bob) Elliott.  Julia and Bob both enjoyed traveling, and had visited all 50 states, 14 countries and provinces. She was an excellent homemaker and shared her love of baking and cooking with her four daughters. She was also a great seamstress, making many of her daughters’ clothes. Julia made the holidays extra special for her grandchildren with Easter Egg hunts and lots of Christmas goodies and gifts.  She also enjoyed her years volunteering as a Girl Scout leader.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee and was previously a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Montgomery, Indiana, where she served as a member of St. Peter’s Altar Society.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Ernestina Kohl, Elizabeth (Liz) Frazee, Lyndelle (Joan) Morse, Anna Pedro, Helen (Hedgecraft) Farley, and Nancy Schwalm; and three brothers, Marion, Orville, and Gerald (Jerry).

She is survived by Bob, her loving husband of 63 years, and their four daughters, Jane (Scott) Bingham of Bloomington, Indiana, Linda (Doug) Esmon of Naperville, Illinois, Carolyn Stoll of Washington, Indiana, and Doris (Tom) Schuler of Evansville, Indiana; eight loving grandchildren, Elliott (Rachel) Thole, Jordan (Sabrina) Stoll, Casey (Melody) Stoll, Dave Stoll, Brian Esmon, Carissa (Anthony) Gomez, Brandt (Jackie) Showalter and Christy (Kevin) Wnukiewicz; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Gomez, Ava Wnukiewicz, Wesley Showalter, Amya Stoll, and Macee (Josh) Braun; two great-great-grandchildren, Tessa and Jaxon Braun; and one brother, Joe Bucci of Elwood, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Heart to Heart Hospice.
