County Council approves abatement requests

The Daviess County Council today (wed) began the third and final phase of one tax abatement request and started the process on another.

In a unanimous vote, the council approved a Confirmatory Resolution on abatement for the Westgate 7 area near Odon.  The action establishes an economic revitalization area and will offer abatement for any potential clients in the future.

The council also agreed to approve a tax abatement application from Belt Tech Conveyor Specialists in Washington.  Jordan Russell with the company explained that after over 25 years they are moving to a new location. He says they’ve purchased the Goodman Recycling property on County Road 300-west across from GPC.  He says the 30,000 square foot building and 10 acres will accommodate their Indiana location.

Belt Tech, currently located on Daviess County Road 700-south, provides conveyor system advice, maintenance, and emergency service. They have locations in Illinois and Kentucky.

Also the council agreed to send out one letter per year to all receiving tax abatement in the county reminding them when the necessary paperwork is due as part of their agreement with the county.  If the paperwork is not received then appropriate action will be taken.
