The city of Washington is a finalist for Generation 5 of the Hometown Collaboration Initiative or HCI.

The initiative is open to self identified communities with a population of 25,000 or less who want to develop a new generation of local leaders, promote the launch, survival and growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs and or enhance the their hometown’s assets.  Leadership Daviess County sent their HCI application last Friday.

The program was developed by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs in a partnership with Ball State and Purdue.

The next step in the selection process will be site visits conducted by the HCI team later this month.  Each of the semi-finalist teams will have a 90-minute session during the visits to further elaborate on their opportunities for the program and how it can contribute to the long-term success of local community and economic development initiatives.

Other Generation 5 Semi Finalists for the program are the Indiana cities of Albion, Angola and Cumberland and Brown County.
