Janet Gay Cottrell, 83, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

 

 

She was born in Odon on January 10, 1934 to Carson Hubert and Mable (Adams) Foglesong. She married her loving husband, Richard Dale ‘Dick’ Cottrell on October 29, 1979.

Janet was a member of the First Christian Church of Odon and a graduate of Odon High School in 1952. She was a Configuration Management Specialist at Crane, retiring on June 30, 2013 with 33 years’ service. Janet enjoyed gardening, her flowers, watching birds and squirrels, crocheting, needlework, painting, collecting dishes, taking care of her cat, Lucy and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband of 37 years, Richard Cottrell of Odon; one son, Kenneth ‘Greg’ (Deidre) Bechtel of Odon; five daughters, Cynthia Asdell of Washington, Linda (Ronald) Woodruff of Plainville, Sheila (Larry) Maryfield of Washington, IN, Janet (Robert) Price of Arvada, CO and Lisa Throop of Odon, IN; two step-children, Michael Cottrell and Michele Bott, both of Flora, IN; grandchildren, Robert Bryan (Jennifer) Woodruff, Kenneth Robert (Amanda) Bechtel, Alisha Marie (Deven) Shake, Nicholas Carson Bechtel and Ashley Danielle Troutman and five great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by: her parents; grandson, Travis Kyle Woodruff and son-in-law, William David Asdell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at First Christian Church of Odon with Richard Crabtree officiating. Janet will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call at the church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, March 27 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Odon. Envelopes will be available at the church.
