Decision on courtouse annex could come before June

Not much more information was offered at last night’ 3rd and final information meeting on a proposed Daviess County Courthouse Annex. Now there’ll be some work sessions discussing the information and public comment before a decision is made on what, if anything will be done.

The  Washington Times Herald  quoted Commissioner Michael Taylor as saying it’s a hard decision and there’s a lot of money to be spent and he was hoping for more comments.  All three meetings in Washington, Odon and Montgomery had light turnout with most being county officials and office holders.

There are four options in two locations.  One utilizes the Old National Bank Building downtown; the other would be new building at 3rd and Hefron.  Construction costs range from 6 to 8 million dollars. Both locations could or could not include a central dispatch center. Both would house the Recorder, Treasurer, Assessor and Auditor’s offices.

The county commissioners and council hope to make a decision in the next month or two.
