Darrell E. Harner, 76, of Washington, passed away on Jan. 31 at his home.

 

 

 

He was born June 30, 1940, in Washington to Walter Eugene and Thelma “Jean” (Goodman) Harner. He was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School. Darrell worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years. He was a member of the Union of Operation Engineers Local 150. He was a member of Petersburg Holiness Church, enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR racing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Moore Harner; two sons, Zachary of Washington and Trinity Harner of Greencastle; three daughters, Desiree “DeDe” Wade, Rebecca Harner, both of Vincenners, and Teia Harner of Florida; two brothers, Bill Harner of Idaho and Bernie (Susan) Harner of Montgomery; sister Linda Holland of Loogootee; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Terry Harner.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Burial will follow in New Veale Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
