Barbara J. Chambers, 82, of Loogootee, passed away at 11:01 a.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 at The Villages of Oak Ridge.
She was born May 6, 1934 in Martin County, Indiana to the late George R. and Iva (Abel) Frye.
Barbara married Eugene D. Chambers on November 25, 1959 and he preceded her in death November 18, 1976.
She retired from NSWC Crane June 1st, 1996 after many years of employment. She was a member of Loogootee United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, birds, animals and nature.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene D. Chambers; parents, George R. and Iva (Abel) Frye; brothers, James R. Frye and Larry L. Frye.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Albright of Washington and Steve Chambers (significant other, Becky Butcher) of Loogootee; grandchildren, Lee W. Albright (significant other, Renee Crew) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Stephanie Chambers (significant other, Zak Greene) of Loogootee; great-grandchild, Alexis Hamilton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; siblings, Gary J. (Janie) Frye and Janet (Dwayne) Walton, both of Loogootee and Judy Frye of Tell City; sisters-in-law, Peggy Frye of Loogootee and Judy Frye of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30th, 2016 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Friday, December 30, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Martin County Humane Society.
