Missing man located overnight

missing-person-found

Several Knox County area law enforcement and fire departments were reportedly searching yesterday and last night for an elderly man who had not returned home.  The search started in Washington Township with the Bicknell City Fire Department.  Sources say several back roads, ditches and other areas were searched to no avail.  The man was reported to have been seen in Fort Branch at a convenience store asking for directions to Vincennes.  Reports were he turned south instead of north and was pinged in New Harmony at one point.

At one thirty this morning, relatives received a call from the man’s cell phone from someone described as a Good Samaritan in Carmi, Illinois and he was said to be on his way home.

Thanks and credit was given to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Mike Morris who helped to coordinate search efforts with other departments.  The man is a long time friend of the Washington Township Fire Department.  Knox County received help in the search from various people and agencies in Evansville, New Harmony and Carmi.
