Joyce E. (Moore) Critchlow, 89, of Washington, passed away Tuesday.
Born June 7, 1927, in Washington, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Ethyl E. (Fish) Moore.
She was a graduate of Washington High School Class of 1945. She married William Critchlow on Aug. 3, 1946. She was a member of New Hope Christian Church. Joyce helped with Red Cross swimming for several years along with Lucille Simpson, was president of the PTA, secretary for Job’s Daughters, made auxiliary outfits for the Washington High School Band, and was president of the band boosters. She made the first football flag for WHS, made banners for WHS senior and junior high schools, Indiana University, Wyoming University and Michigan City. She was an avid Washington Hatchets basketball fan. She especially enjoyed attending grandchildren’s events.
Joyce is survived by three daughters, Gail (Tom) Clements, Emily (Aaron) Keene, and Nikki (Wayne) Sparks; a son, Ronald Critchlow; two sisters, Norma Hackler and Emily Moore; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband William; two brothers, Burton and Donald Moore; four sisters, Marjorie Shute, Elizabeth McCain, Ermil Jones and Bonnie Grider.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gill Funeral Home. Friends may call Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
