Two injured in separate hunting related incident in Pike and Sullivan Counties

PIKE COUNTY TREE STAND FALL

A Pike County man was injured after falling from a tree Saturday afternoon. Indiana Conservation Officers say 34-year-old Aaron Mason of Spurgeon was setting up a tree stand when he lost balance his balance and jumped approximately twelve feet to the ground. Mason was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital with significant injuries to his right ankle. The accident took place on Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife Area in Pike County near Island Pit around 2:30 pm on Saturday. Conservation officers say Mason was not wearing any type of safety harness at the time of the fall. This is the sixteenth tree stand accident in Indiana in 2016.

SULLIVAN COUNTY HUNTING ACCIDENT

A Terre Haute man was injured while hunting in Sullivan County over the weekend.  Conservation officers say that 66-eyar-old James Wrightsman-Senior was leaving Fairbanks Landing Fish and Wildlife area when he tried to fire his crossbow unload it.  His thumb raised above the right groove and was struck by the string.  He was taken to the hospital in Terre Haute and treated. That incident happened on Saturday.
