Ernest Truman Loveless, Jr., 73, of Monroe City

Ernest Truman Loveless, Jr. of Monroe City went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.  

Ernest was born at home on a small farm near Palmyra, Illinois on October 9, 1924 to Ernest T. Loveless and Lois A. (Lomelino) Loveless.
He was a WWII veteran and served in the Pacific with the 39th Bomb Squadron, 6th Bomb Group.  He was inducted into the Army Air Force in March, 1943 and was discharged from the Air Force in March, 1963 with a rank of Captain.
He attended college on the GI Bill and graduated from the University of Wichita (now Wichita State) in 1950 with a degree in Geology.  He spent his career working as a self-employed Petroleum Geologist in the Illinois Basin.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cleo (Berry) Loveless, his son Brad Loveless and his wife Kim of Sullivan; his daughter Gina Dauer and her husband Joe of Newburgh; his grandchildren Brooke Ziegler, Tara Laue, Tom Dauer and Scott Dauer; and his great grandchildren Lexi Ziegler, Madisyn Ziegler, Noah Ziegler, Austin Laue and Abby Laue.
Also surviving are his brothers Rodger Loveless of Louisiana, Missouri, and David Loveless of Jacksonville, Illinois; and sister Sandra Little of DeKalb, Illinois; along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Loveless of Palmyra, Illinois and a sister Betty Gallagher, of Springfield, Missouri.
Ernest was a licensed professional geologist in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Elks Club, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the American Institute of Professional Geologists and was a patron member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Loveless was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, where he had served as a trustee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Brenda Wick officiating.  Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from Noon until the service on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, P.O.
