School Superintendents from across the region gathered for a press conference this morning for a call to action regarding the current ISTEP test.

The event was held at Barr Reeve Junior/High in front of students, staff and media.  Barr Reeve Superintendent, Travis Madison led the conference with a history of the changes in testing and standards that have taken place over the past seven years.  He and the others expressed their frustration at no progress being made at replacing ISTEP….

The local schools are all concerned that if the past repeats itself, another flawed assessment and accountability system will detract from the credibility of any future test.  They say the current system will again unfairly depict the work of students, and teachers.  They are calling on parentsto get involved and for politics to be taken out of the decision making process.

Superintendents from all three public school systems in Daviess County attended the press conference along others from Loogootee, Northeast Dubois and White River Valley.
