Donald McCarthy, 88, of Jasper

Donald McCarthy, 88, of Jasper, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at St. Charles Health Campus.

He was born September 7, 1928 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Michael Leonard and Florence (Mudd) McCarthy.

Donald retired from the United States Army. While serving in the U.S. Army he spent 20 years on active duty and 10 years on reserve duty. He was a three-war veteran serving in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.

He was a lifelong member of the Veteran of Foreign War. He enjoyed traveling and skeet shooting.

Donald was preceded in death by a son, Thomas McCarthy; parents, Michael Leonard and Florence (Mudd) McCarthy; sisters, Helen (Norvan “Slim”) Fullerton and Clara (Joe) Doyle; brother-in- law, Pat Patterson.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa (Becerra Angulo) McCarthy of Jasper; sons, Beonard McCarthy of Lexington, KY., James McCarthy of Jasper, and John McCarthy of Jasper; grandchildren, Anthony Beamon, Valerie, Kristie, and Amanda McCarthy; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Patterson of Washington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery – Barr Township.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
