Barbara “Elaine” Wathen, 61, of Shoals, passed away at 9:38 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at her home.
She was born May 5, 1955 in Jasper, Indiana to the late Hartwig and Laverne (Greene) Eichmiller.
Elaine was a nurse for nearly 35 years. She worked at various hospital and nursing homes. She was most recently employed at Loogootee Healthcare and loved taking care of the residents.
She was selfless and worried about everyone, except herself. She loved her grandchildren and visiting with her brother and sister. She enjoyed the outdoors and taking care of her flowers and animals.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Hartwig and Laverne (Greene) Eichmiller and brother-in-law, Donald Flinn.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Wathen of Shoals; sons, Jason (Tina) Wathen of Loogootee and Jacob Wathen of Monticello; grandchildren, Ashlynn, Macey and Ruger Wathen; brother, Mark (Dana) Eichmiller of Corydon; sister, Susan Flinn of New Albany.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2016 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the Martin County Humane Society.
