Two jailed for driving without a license in Washington, a meth arrest in Vincennes…the Martin County Harvest festival continues…..

ARREST REPORTS

-Washington police arrested two people in separate incidents for operating while never receiving a license last night.  36-year-old Juan Mercado-Linares was jailed at around 7-pm, while 30-year-old Rafael Ramirez of Washington was booked into the security center at about 8:30-pm. Bond was set at $2000.

-A man was jailed last night after a drug investigation at 1022 Main in Vincennes.  At around 11:20-pm, James K. Byerly was taken to the Knox County Jail for possession of meth and marijuana.

LOOGOOTEE SCHOOL RAISES

A tentative contract for teachers at Loogootee was ratified yesterday. The Washington Times Herald    ( Washington Times Herald)   says the agreement calls for giving teachers back their regular salary increases based on years of experience and a boost for first year teachers.  Incoming teachers with a bachelor’s will get $35,750 and those with 19 or more years and a master’s can get $65,725 at the top of the scale.Administrators gave praise to the negotiation process and those involved.  They said the pay increases are designed to attract and keep teachers.
