Helen Lucille Sims, 96, of Odon, peacefully went to Heaven surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Bridgepoint Health Campus in Vincennes.

 

She was born on September 8, 1920 in Daviess County, Indiana to Frank B. and Hazel V. (Carr) Dowden. Helen became the wife of Robert A. Sims on December 21, 1937.

Helen was a member of the Odon First Christian Church and the Ladies’ Aide Group at Frady United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother dedicated to her home and family. Helen had also worked at the US Rubber Plant in Washington and then Sims Orchard in Raglesville.

Survivors include: son, John (Nancy) Sims of Odon; daughter, Miranda ‘Randi’ Sims of Vincennes; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; twenty-four great-great-grandchildren; brother, David (Nancy) Dowden of Franklin; sister, Judy (Dave) Rogers of Valparaiso and son-in-law, William Strange of Odon.

Helen was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Sims; her parents; step-mother, Dorothy Dowden; son, Ronald J. Sims and daughter, Jenny Strange, granddaughter Debbie Sims, sister Doris Hubbell.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Odon First Christian Church with great-grandson, Ryan Sibray officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in the Raglesville Cemetery in Raglesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Raglesville Cemetery Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 3 at the church.
