Financial consultants say that the county’s funds are ““very healthy”.

“Very healthy”, that’s how 21 funds in Daviess County were described by Jason Semler of Financial Consultants, Umbaugh and Associates.

Semler appeared before a joint meeting of the Daviess County Commissioners and Council Tuesday morning addressing the County’s Comprehensive Financial plan.

Semler discussed the effect of property tax circuit breakers in reducing projected income.  He noted Daviess County could expect to lose around $780,000 due to circuit breakers in 2017.   Semler also noted that in the 2014 and 2015 fiscal years the county dipped  into its surplus to meet the budget.  During that time Daviess County was covering expenses for repairs to the Bennington Levee.  Despite that, Semler said the county still has a healthy working surplus.   Semler also discussed refunding of three EDIT bond issues.
