Monday, Mayor Joe Wellman announced to the city council last night that the City of Washington is taking action on property that has been a long-time eyesore on the City’s near west side.
The Mayor says efforts are underway to address the 10 acre Tokheim site….
Wellman says the property, which has been on the county’s delinquent tax list for some time is currently in the hands of a private Ft. Wayne investor group. He said a developer is interested in building an apartment complex in the area, but he’s waiting to hear from the SIDC to determine the next steps.
He added the city will be cautious using due diligence and won’t subject the city to additional liability.
Wellman gave no time-line for receiving the SIDC report and says several things need to fall in place as their work proceeds.
