Bear Update

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the black bear seen in southern Indiana last month is back.

The bear is now at the Scott/Clark County line. It was first seen in Harrison County back on July 17. The DNR tells those living in those areas to remove outside trash cans and bird feeders and clean/store grills in a garage or shed. Don’t feed  a bear and  back away slowly while yelling and waving your arms.

If you see the bear, call the DNR at (812)-334-1137. It’s the 2nd black bear to be seen in Indiana over the past couple of years. The 1st one was found in northern Indiana in 2015, the first in the state in more than 140 years.
