Alliene O’Brian, 99

Alliene O’Brian, lovingly known as “Gram”, 99, went to her Heavenly Home on July 26, 2016 at her residence. 

She was born on October 16, 1916 in Ivy (Petersburg) to Harley and Lula (Engleman) Norton. On September 19, 1936 she married the late Elmer O’Brian. Alliene was a homemaker/farm wife who helped in all aspects of the farm. She lived on the farm for 71 years doing payroll; while Elmer operated the grain, hay and, melon farming at O’Brian Farms. She was very proud of the farm, which is still being farmed today. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Indiana Extension Homemakers Association, and a Charter Member of Gamma Gamma Alumnae Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She loved her family, her animals, and the pride of her life: her farm.

Alliene is survived by her children Peggy Grannan (Gene) of Corydon, Jo Ann Field of Vincennes, Pat Wilson of Washington, and Bill O’Brian (Pat) of Washington; grandchildren Aaron Grannan (Jessica), Lesli Grannan, Jason Field (Wanda), Kamilla Aeschliman (Keith), Alicia Mattingly (Neil Whitehead), Stacie Rodriguez, Justin Wilson (Lauren), Haley O’Brian, Zachary O’Brian (Darla), Emily Chapman (Cody); great grandchildren Ira Field, Zeb Aeschliman, Taylor Mattingly, Jaycie Browning, Hallie Browning, Sofia Rodriguez, Jax Rodriguez, Dominic Wilson, Leo Wilson, Cecilia Alliene Wilson; and sister Wanona Nowling. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer O’Brian; and 3 brothers Dr. H.O. Norton, Bernard Norton, and George Norton.

The funeral service for Alliene will take place on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 5pm at Gill Funeral Home with Ms. Yvonne Evans officiating. Friends may call from 1-5pm prior to the service.
