Secretary of Defense Ash Carter toured Crane along with his host, Indiana’s U.S. Senator, Joe Donnelly Wednesday afternoon.
Captain J.T. Elder, Commanding Officer of NSWC Crane called Carter’s visit, “historic”. Carter is the first Secretary of Defense to the southern Indiana installation. Elder said Carter was able to get a firsthand look at the many ways in which NSWC Crane’s technical expertise is providing national leadership in innovative solutions that keep our nation’s war fighters safe.
The Secretary of Defense thanked Senator Donnelly for inviting him to tour Crane. Carter said he wanted to make sure that he was up to date on the fantastic work being done at Crane, to thank the fantastic group of staff there, and also the community for supporting this installation. Carter said “Crane has a bright future”.
