Clare M. Wickman, 94, of Washington, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday at her home.

She was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Daviess County, to Alban and Mary (Matthews) Hopkins. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and the Montgomery High School class of 1940.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Roberta) Wickman of Washington, Edward (Kathleen) Wickman of Indianapolis, Dennis (Debra) Wickman of Jasper, Michael (Sheryl) Wickman of St. Louis, Missouri, Margaret (Kenton) Allison of Washington, Mark (Linda) Wickman of Loogootee, Lucille (Brandley) McCracken of Evansville, and Carol Grise of Columbus; sisters Theresa Guthrie of Martinsville and Mary Margaret Hopkins of Sydney, Australia; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Vernon Wickman, whom she married March 6, 1943, died Nov. 26, 2006. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Veronica Hopkins and Rosalia Cannon; four brothers, Joseph Hopkins, Paul Hopkins, Hurbert Hopkins and Thomas Hopkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Barr Township. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
