Alice (Mattingly) Walker, 90, of Loogootee

Alice (Mattingly) Walker, 90, of Loogootee, passed away at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center.

She was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Loogootee, to the late Thomas Ervin and Flora Agnes (Greenwell) Mattingly.
Alice married Bryan W. Walker on April 10, 1944, and he passed away Jan. 21, 2004.
She was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She also was a member of the St. John Quilters and St. John Funeral Dinner Committee. She volunteered at the Martin County Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and was a Silver Star RSVP volunteer.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Bryan W. Walker; parents Thomas Ervin and Flora Agnes (Greenwell) Mattingly; grandchild Samantha; six brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Jean) Walker of Loogootee, Paul “Fred” (Tina) Walker of Longview, Texas, and Brenda Walker of Loogootee; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings Ron Mattingly of Huntingburg and Don Mattingly of Loogootee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.
