Eugene C. Robinson, 95, of Washington

Eugene C. Robinson, 95, of Washington, passed away Monday at Eastgate Manor in Washington. 

He was born March 10, 1921, in Harrison Township, the son of Earl and Mary (Gilley) Robinson. He was married to Lena Fletcher from October 1942 until she preceded him in death in March 1990. In 1992, he married Mary Alford Selby and she preceded him in death in 2007.
Eugene and his wife, Lena, owned and operated Sinclair Filling Station and Restaurant in Wheatland and later added a motel to their business. He retired from Crane Naval Base. He was a member of the Birds Free Methodist Church, as well as Shriners International and the Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Preceding Eugene in death were his parents; his first and second wife; two brothers; and one stepson, Jim Selby.
Survivors include his son, Curtis Robinson and wife Tammy of Wheatland; daughter Judy Ruppel of Washington; stepdaughters Rachel McCullough and husband Dave of Tuscola, Illinois, and Cathy Wells and husband Merle of Fort Branch; one sister, Virginia Mock of Whiteland; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. CST at the Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CST at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at a later date at the Wheatland Cemetery.
