Steve Peterson is the new principal at Washington High

A former Loogootee Assistant Principal and Athletic Director is the new principal at Washington High School.


 Steve Peterson was hired by a unanimous vote of the Washington School Board.

Peterson is a South Bend native and has recently been the Principal at East Noble High School.    Peterson says Washington’s focus on kids was something that made the move to Washington attractive.

 

Peterson was chosen out of 12 applicants. He takes over for Lee Ann Kelley who left recently for the principal’s job at White River Valley.

Peterson, who is the first high school graduate in his family, After high school Peterson earned an associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, he then earned a bachelor’s degree from IU-South Bend and his masters degree from Indiana State.  Peterson’s first job was teaching math in Evansville, he then moved to Loogootee, where again, he was assistant principal and athletic director.  He then moved back north where he was assistant principal in Hobart for seven years, and the Principal  at Hammond Gavit for three years before taking the job at East Noble.
